Warner Brothers Showcase Box Office Dominance

With big Hollywood studios suffering terribly at the Box Office in recent years, realized by terrible ticket sales and dissatisfied audiences, Disney being the biggest casualty. Warner Brothers Pictures seems to be taking the foothold as the primary Los Angeles Studio.

Warner Bros. is not settling for “Barbie”-related accolades: With a release plan that includes a new Mad Max movie, “Furiosa,” Kevin Costner’s two-part Western epic, “Horizon: An American Saga,” the Beetlejuice sequel, and “Joker: Folie à Deux,” which features Lady Gaga, the prestigious movie company is also aiming for a record-breaking 2024.

Warner Brothers have been busy while their studio competitors struggle under performance pressure. They blew away theater owners at the Las Vegas annual CinemaCon convention and trade show with a glittering array of content due for release this year, including, Joker: Folie à Deux,” out Oct. 4, seeing the return of Arthur Fleck played by the dynamic Joaquin Phoenix with the introduction of Lady Ga Ga into the story.

Todd Phillips thanked exhibitors for their support and help in the huge success of the first film. He addressed the rumour’s of the second film being a musical by saying, “It’s a movie where music is an essential element,” Phillips went on to say. “To me that doesn’t veer very far from the first film.”

Director George Miller of “Furiosa,” which stars Chris Hemsworth and Taylor-Joy, talked a little about the prequel and unveiled some shocking new footage before the film’s global premiere at the Cannes Film Festival the following month and its May 24 theatrical release. “We just finished last week,” said the 79-year-old filmmaker, whose first Mad Max film came out 45 years ago. Furiosa is a prequel to the 2015 film with Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron. This time it will be centered around a younger version of Theron’s character played by Taylor-Joy.

“This is the story of one woman’s relentless commitment to impossible hope,” Taylor-Joy said. “We see her go through everything.”

Chris Hemsworth will play a warlord named “Dementus.”

Kevin Costner will be returning to the big screen with two-part film “Horizon: An American Saga,” which he directed, co-wrote and stars in. Set during the Civil War, Costner wanted to look at the idea of the promise of America. Part one is set for release on June 28th  followed by “Part 2” on Aug. 16.

There was huge excitement for the return of the classic “Beetle Juice” Film set for release in September 5th. Keaton, Winona Ryder and Catherine O’Hara will reprise their roles, and introducer’s new characters played by Jenna Ortega, Monica Bellucci, Willem Dafoe and Justin Theroux.

Warner Brothers have been busy, and what seems relentless, with multiple projects in the pipeline, notable additions include the relaunch of the DC universe in the works, successful releases of Wonka, Dune Part 2, and Godzilla x Kong all grossing over one billion worldwide. The Warner Brothers juggernaut shows no sign of slowing down.
